The Bradley County Tennessee State Veterans’ Home in Cleveland, Tennessee provides resident-centered homes and individualized care for veterans in the surrounding area. This new facility reflects a significant cultural transformation in the approach to the environment of care in community living centers, with a focus on the individual as a resident, rather than as a patient, and the home as a place for meaningful living in addition receiving nursing care.
The project included construction of a single story, 107,950 s.f., 108-bed intermediate and skilled care nursing facility and related site improvements. The site is home to a neighborhood of six residential houses each with 18 private bedrooms and living, dining, and kitchen areas. The houses are interconnected by interior shared spaces and common areas. The six houses share a community center, therapeutic services, other resident support spaces, as well as access to a series of outdoor garden and courtyard amenities.
