State of Tennessee
This home provides resident-centered housing and individualized care for veterans in the surrounding area. This new facility reflects a significant cultural transformation in the approach to the environment of care in community living centers, with a focus on the individual as a resident, rather than as a patient, and the home as a place for meaningful living in addition receiving nursing care. The project included construction of a single story, 108-bed intermediate and skilled care nursing facility and related site improvements. The site is home to a neighborhood of six residential houses each with 18 private bedrooms and living, dining, and kitchen areas. The houses are interconnected by interior shared spaces and common areas. The buildings share a community center, therapeutic services, other resident support spaces, as well as access to a series of outdoor garden and courtyard amenities.
