Tennessee Technological University
Home to the University’s chemistry, biology, biochemistry, forensics, cellular biology, medical biology, and earth science departments, construction of this facility fulfilled a longtime dream for the University with several years going into the planning and design of the new space. With input from department faculty, the new spaces were tailored to TTU’s unique teaching and research needs. The facility boasts two connected buildings home to offices, classrooms, teaching and research labs, and ample spaces for collaboration among all of the science disciplines. An expansive outdoor quad space provides students with a large outdoor space to collaborate, study, and relax. With a closed loop water circulation system, 490,000 pounds of ductwork and over 20 miles of pipe, the Christman team knew up front this would be the perfect job to implement BIM coordination. Christman led BIM efforts in conjunction with the design team and trade contractors to review each area of the building to coordinate with structural steel and adjacent MEP systems.
