New Carpenters and Millwrights Training Center

With a goal of consolidating southeast Michigan operations under one roof, this project brought together administrative and training centers that had previously been spread across the state.

The building features classrooms with smart board technology, 30 welding booth stations, a flooring and manipulation area, and high bay spaces for carpenters and millwrights with an overhead crane. In addition to training areas, the building offers meeting spaces for community events, contractor symposiums and career fairs.

This project provided an opportunity for Christman to bring on our self-perform affiliate, Christman Constructors, Inc. (CCI). By doing this, the team was able to utilize union carpenters and achieve the local participation goals of the owner. CCI carpenters performed over 20,000 hours of work on site, which included the installation of over 75,000 SF of exterior metal panels, over 1,000 SF of mass timbers, 6,000 SF of long span acoustical metal decking, high-end millwork and casework, door frames and hardware, specialties, interior and exterior signage, as well as final cleaning of the building.
