State of Maryland
This project aimed to revitalize the historic landmark's iconic dome while addressing past restoration failures. Completed in 1779, the building holds significance as America's oldest continuously used state house. Challenges included sourcing skilled craftsmen and navigating logistical constraints in an urban environment with limited access. Christman's proactive approach involved early collaboration with the Maryland Department of General Services (DGS) and meticulous planning to ensure compliance and quality. The restoration encompassed exterior and interior rehabilitation, including slate and lead paint abatement, wood siding restoration, and electrical upgrades. Despite tight deadlines and unforeseen obstacles, the project team's innovative solutions and commitment to excellence resulted in a successful restoration.
