University of North Carolina

Kaplan Center for Wellness

Constructed as part of the University's master plan for growth along W. Gate City Boulevard, this wellness center more than doubled UNCG's recreation amenities from its previous building and played an important role in the development of the south side of the campus. In addition to providing greater activity spaces, it serves as a gathering and event space for student organizations and learning space for academic classes.

The three-story building features the concepts of Universal Design and is usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone regardless of age or ability. The facility is home to more than 20,000 SF of weight and fitness space, seven basketball courts, a 54-foot climbing wall, an elevated jogging track, a 25-meter competitive natatorium and a fitness pool.
