Novant Health
Early in the project, the project team worked with trade contractors as part of a value engineering process. This was to bring the project into budget after initial planning pulled the project above the target. Through creative, value-added ideas the project met budget objectives and important services were not sacrificed. Consistent, daily communication with the owner and their staff was critical to opening the facility without negative client and patient impact. Christman’s experience with local permitting laws helped secure a special “stocking permit” which allowed Novant to move in and begin non-patient operations as the final work was put into place. While the medical office was not already occupied, the building is central to an existing shopping center. Due to the high traffic area, managing the materials, deliveries and safety of workers and the public remained a top priority for Christman.
