Richmond Performing Arts Center
This theater’s Moorish minarets, ornate tiling and detail, and lushly appointed auditorium make it one of Richmond’s most distinctive buildings. The preservation of the beautiful and historic downtown landmark was completed in three phases. The restorations, both interior and exterior, improved the patron experience and provided the resources necessary to present recent and popular show productions and performances. The work included new restrooms, fire alarm controls, façade repairs, emergency lighting, box office improvements, new elevators and concession areas as well as seating restorations and state-of-the-art theater-system upgrades. The patron experience was further improved with new expanded bars and longue areas. This project also required comprehensive abatement and full replacement of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Exterior restoration of structure included restoration to the brick and terracotta as well as roof replacement.
