After nearly 75 years at their Sutherland office, Christman has finally packed up the plants, the pens, and a whole lot of memories—hello, fresh start! The new Christman location remains in Knoxville and is now upgraded to a fully remodeled floor in the Landmark Center Building, conveniently located on the Northshore Drive exit off I-40.
“Fun fact: the company was the original builder of the Landmark Center in the early 1970s. With Knoxville roots dating back to 1946, General Manager and Senior Vice President Marty Gibbs says, “It is always an honor to return to our many iconic structures to provide construction services for new additions, renovations, or in this case, to be a tenant in one of our very own buildings.”
While the original office on Sutherland Avenue will always hold significance for The Christman Company, with its Rentenbach roots, the company sought a space with an open layout to foster a more collaborative environment. Gibbs says, “This relocation marks a significant milestone in our journey – a reflection of our growth, our commitment to innovation, and our continued dedication to our community.”
The new office is designed to maximize natural light, featuring glass walls in every office and windows that surround the entire floor. It includes four collaborative workspaces, three conference rooms of various sizes, and a break room with capacity for at least 20 colleagues. Christman is enthusiastic about this new location, which is expected to enhance both company culture and productivity. Ultimately, Gibbs states, “Our new location allows our teams to collaborate more effectively and serve our clients even better. As we transition into this next chapter, we are excited about the opportunities ahead and grateful for our employees, customers, and trade contractor partners who have helped us reach this point.”
The office embodies the company’s core value of being a great place to work. It creates an environment that strengthens relationships, sparks collaboration, and drives productivity. The open layout and abundance of collaborative workspaces are designed to encourage spontaneous interactions and teamwork, fostering a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere where creativity can flourish. Prioritizing these elements ensures that this workplace is a space where employees feel valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their best.
Christman Southeast Constructors (our Self-Perform Affiliate) Moves Alongside
As Christman transitioned to its new office, its valued affiliate, Christman Southeast Constructors (CSEC), settled into their new home—reinforcing their shared commitment to growth and collaboration. Also relocating to the Landmark Center, Christman and CSEC are conveniently housed in the same building. CSEC operates from a standalone space, reflecting their continued growth and expanding role within the organization.
Specializing in concrete, general trades, and carpentry, CSEC’s new location is designed to support their operational needs while maintaining proximity to the broader Christman team. This move highlights Christman’s commitment to strengthening its self-perform capabilities and ensuring that CSEC has the dedicated space and resources to thrive, collaborate efficiently, and continue delivering exceptional craftsmanship across projects.
