College of Veterinary Medicine Translational Research Facility

This state-of-the-art facility at NC State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine is uniquely designed to serve as both a holding pen and a fully equipped surgery suite—bringing two distinct functions together to support advanced translational research on large animals.

Key spaces include a sterile surgery room for complex procedures, dedicated induction and recovery rooms for safe anesthesia management, and secure holding rooms to house animals before and after procedures. The facility was purpose-built to meet the highest standards for safety, hygiene, and animal welfare, ensuring optimal conditions for researchers and animals alike.

Strategically located at the heart of the College of Veterinary Medicine campus, the facility serves as a vital resource for advancing veterinary research and improving animal health. Constructed with durable CMU block walls and a reinforced truss system, it was successfully delivered on an accelerated 14-month schedule.
