The interior renovation of the government office space and architectural finishes of the Lucas State Office Building, built in 1950, occurred while the building was still occupied. The building’s stone exterior was cleaned and repaired. It received window and spandrel caulking. The building was also brought up to date with new heating, cooling and life safety systems and the construction of ADA ramps and other compliance features. A 7,000 s.f. tunnel connecting the building to the State Capitol was constructed along with upgraded heating, lighting and flooring systems.
