At a half million s.f., Constitution Hall, also known as the 525 West Allegan Building, is the largest office building ever built in downtown Lansing. The building houses the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Department of Agriculture. This signature building includes a seven-story glass enclosed atrium with a park-like ground level floor plan. One of the key challenges was providing the amount of space the State needed within its cost constraints. Christman contributed significantly to this effort through extensive value analysis, constructability reviews of the designs, and an aggressive bidding effort. The combined efforts of the project team yielded an extremely successful project, completed significantly ahead of schedule and under budget.
