This project involved a remodel of a portion of an existing one-story mixed-used building on Pfizer’s Ann Arbor research and development campus. The work included demolition of the existing construction, including a compact library storage system, and reconstruction of new office space. The existing primary mechanical equipment was reused and the distribution system was modified to allow the system to remain in service for other parts of the building. Work was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Additional furniture was purchased with savings from the construction contingency.

Next to the Pathology building is the Community Clinic. The Community Clinic project was an adaptive reuse in part of an existing building. The project converted a lab/research space into an overnight stay and testing facility for volunteers in the human drug trial program at Pfizer. The new facility accommodates sleeping, bathing, eating, and entertainment facilities for 16 volunteers as well as support and lab space. Christman held the contracts for appliances, telecom systems (including nurse call) and security systems. The design/build project was completed on a very aggressive three-month design/construction schedule which helped Pfizer realize savings of several million dollars by operating a particular drug study in-house rather than subcontracting it.
